The property is located in the Conservation area of Longforgan and the proposal was to alter and extend an existing Bungalow, including a new parking area in the land to the North across the road.

The new extension is single storey to tie in with the ridgeline of the existing cottage and contains the main open plan living/dining/kitchen space – benefitting from the south aspect and views to the garden space and beyond to the Tay. The existing bedroom corner window is replicated in the new extension, which incorporates sliding folding doors allowing the extension to be opened up to the garden. A small patio/decking space will further connect the living space to the garden and allow for an outside seating space.

The materials palette is minimal and neutral, with white walls and slate roof to match the existing building. New sections of stonework on the extension and onto the existing building adds interest to the garden elevations and incorporates a chimney for a new wood burning stove.

The new extension has created a sympathetic addition to an existing building, bringing an existing cottage into modern living conditions.
